. protesters are holding duelling rallies for and against president mohamed morsi, so let's get straight to cnn's reza sayah in cairo for us. he's joining us now by phone. reza, the muslim brotherhood has called for not one but 2 million man marches in support of morsi. what do you know about those? >> reporter: randi, we are at one of them, and this is a very large gathering. obviously for more than a week now we've seen hundreds of thousands of egyptian protests against president morsi and the muslim brotherhood and now supporters of morsi say it's our turn. tens of thousands have showed up outside of cairo university where we are and saying we support president morsi and like the anti-government protest we can put on a large demonstration, too. a large turnout. a few thousand women. the gathering overwhelmingly men, and it's energized, chanting slogans. again, some of the opposition leaders and in support of the president. really this turnout puts into focus the conflict here between the opposition factions, the liberals, the moderates, the secularists and the president's supporters, the isl

early this morning. the documents will be presented tomorrow to president mohammed morsi for his signature. reza sayah is overlooking tahrir square. we understand they are planning what they are calling a million man demonstration that has been called. give us a sense why are people still protest and what do we expect in the next 24 hours, the days to come? >> reporter: well, they're protesting because they're angry with president morsi, his dekoreas and how the drafting of this constitution has unfolded, and there doesn't soop seem to be an end to the protest. they're back here in big numbers. tens of thousands of them here in tahrir square. we're going to show you what it looks like at this hour. i think one of the outcomes of the 2011 egyptian revolution was that egyptians became very good in protesting, so it doesn't matter what people are fighting for here. it seems they like to come out and free-throws the opposition factions that are back here in tahrir. these are the liberals, the seculars. we were just down there. we saw a lot of women, women's rights activists who don't

mohammed morsi to give back some of the sweeping powers that he seized earlier in the week. want to go live to cairo. reza sayah is overlooking tahrir square. is it calm where you are, and are people assuming that things are going to get better? there are a lot of critics who vague the broum brotherhood is really now trying to hijack the process, hijack the constitution and get the president to remain in power, as much power as he can hold on to. >> yeah. many of those critics, suzanne, are behind us. still demonstrating here in tahrir square. in the meantime, major developments unfolding. as we speak right now, egypt's constitutional assembly is voting to approve a draft of egypt's all-important new constitution. this is going to be the backbone, the centerpiece of egypt's democratic transition. all of egypt's laws are going to be based on this document. everything from the balance of power between the president and the parliament, the power of the army, the independence of the judiciary, the personal freedoms. once this draft is approved and all indications are it is going to be approved.
